Nutritious and Regenerative Agriculture (Eden Farm)

Cultivating a Healthy and Sustainable Future 🌱

At Eden Vision Community Organization (EVCO), we believe a healthy child is a happy, successful learner. Our Nutritious and Regenerative Agriculture Program is our strategic, long-term solution to the critical issue of childhood malnutrition in Arusha. We are not just growing food; we are cultivating a self-sustaining ecosystem of health, knowledge, and opportunity for the entire community.

Our Challenge: The Link Between Food and Learning

We’ve seen firsthand how a lack of adequate nutrition holds children back. Malnutrition in a child’s early years can lead to irreversible cognitive impairment, making it difficult for them to learn and thrive in school. This is a challenge documented by health organizations worldwide, and we are tackling it at its root.

Our program was conceived as a long-term solution to this systemic issue, providing a reliable source of nutritious food for our preschools while empowering our community to become food-secure and financially independent.

Our Two-Part Strategy for Lasting Change

Our program is structured around two key sites that work together to create both immediate impact and long-term sustainability.

The Laboma Community Pilot Site This is our training hub and model farm. Here, we demonstrate regenerative farming practices to the community. Your support for this site helps us:

  • Repair Critical Infrastructure: We need to repair and upgrade our water system to ensure a reliable supply for our gardens and daily operations.
  • Empower Mothers: We train and empower mothers to establish their own home gardens, which helps their families achieve food security.
  • Educate the Community: This site serves as a hands-on classroom where we teach permaculture, composting, and water harvesting techniques.

The Nado Expansion Site This four-acre plot is where we will scale our impact. With generous use of the land provided by one of our founders, we will develop a large-scale agribusiness and demonstration farm. Here, we will:

  • Launch Our Agribusiness: We will establish a livestock operation for chickens and cattle, producing milk and eggs to provide consistent, high-quality nutrition for our children.
  • Generate Income: We will sell our produce to local hotels and businesses in Arusha, with the goal of generating enough income to cover at least 50% of the program’s operational costs, ensuring our sustainability.

Partner With Us: A Strategic Investment

We are seeking a total of $8,000 USD for critical repairs at our pilot site and initial capital to begin our expansion. Your investment will directly fund:

  • Water System Repair at Laboma: A one-time, critical expense of ~$800 USD to ensure our pilot farm has a reliable water supply.
  • Laboma Operational Costs: A monthly budget to cover essential seeds, tools, and a stipend for our farm workers.
  • Initial Capital for Nado: ~$6,000 USD to build facilities and purchase initial livestock (chickens and cattle) to kickstart our agribusiness.

Your support is an investment that will not only provide immediate nutritional relief but will also build a foundation of self-sufficiency, empowerment, and lasting health for the children and families of Arusha.
